Portrait of Mandy Ryan, Registered Massage Therapist at Active Solutions Health + Sport

I hope that readers get a sense that I’m a kind, intelligent, empathetic, trustworthy, and down-to-earth therapist who is doing my best to help others find comfort and ease in their bodies.

Book with Mandy Ryan

Mandy Ryan offers the following treatments:

I love science, helping people and working with my hands. Massage therapy combines all three!

A friend was going through the registered massage therapy program and needed someone to practice on. After receiving my first massage from her I knew that it was the perfect career for me.

Every day I get to do what I love with amazing people, and I have been so fortunate to do this work.

I feel privileged that people trust me with their registered massage therapy needs. If I can help people find more comfort, confidence, acceptance, or ease in their body I am grateful.

Professional skills

I have extensive experience treating pregnant, labouring, and postpartum people in clinic, home, and hospital settings. I co-owned and operated a mobile RMT clinic in Vancouver called Wild Plum Wellness serving perinatal clients, which contributed to this experience.

Another area of interest has been working with Pain BC as a volunteer health coach, where I have been helping people experiencing persistent pain.

Since moving back to Ladysmith and joining Active Solutions Health + Sport, I’ve really enjoyed seeing a variety of people in all stages of life with a variety of health presentations.

Core values

I value respect, integrity, empathy. I believe that everyone is doing the best they can.

I aim to work with people wherever they are at in their health and help them towards their own goals.

Staying present

My biggest challenge is finding a balance between how much I want to work and how much my body will allow me to work before becoming injured.

I keep myself going with the help of a kinesiologist, massage therapist, naturopathic doctor, regular mediation, lots of walking, time with loved ones, and time in nature.

Hobbies and interests

Daily mindfulness meditation practice, walking, listening and singing poorly along to music, reading, dancing and sometimes cooking in the kitchen, spending time with loved ones, trying new places to eat and drink, laughing at ridiculous Instagram posts... especially the ones with puppies!

Building empathy

I started as a hairdresser and became allergic to the chemicals very quickly. But I found out that I loved working 1-on-1 with people and massaging scalps!

Next I went to school for child and youth care development and social work. The counselling courses helped me with reflective listening and how to sit with with people in difficult moments. It instilled in me the belief that everyone is doing the best they can and I hope that has made me humble, open minded and empathetic.
