Book with Caroline St-Pierre

Caroline St-Pierre offers the following treatments:

Early on I had a passion for working with people and helping them along a rehabilitation path.

As I began my post-secondary journey, I initially was interested in studying physical, mental, and cognitive health. I then became more curious about how to use manual therapy in order to change the body's condition and decided to complete my physiotherapy degree.

Once I heard about different holistic approaches, I knew that considering the whole person in my day-to-day practice would be something I would learn, and carry out forever.

Proudest moments

I am proud of my involvement in the development of palliative care while in Quebec. My responsibility was coordinating the meetings that focused on how we could better offer peer support and facilitate the implementation of best practices for a group of physiotherapists working in palliative care. This role led to a colleague and I presenting our information at the Association Québécoise de Soins Palliatifs Congress.

In my daily practice, helping people to understand their own situation, guiding them on how to get better, and seeing the change in their condition is fulfilling and rewarding.

Unique skills

Through the years, I have:

  • Developed a strong sense of observation that allows me to detect the non-optimal movements.
  • Implemented global approaches to my sessions so I can better understand the links in between the different parts of the body and their relationship to the actual problem.
  • Learned how to induce positive changes in the body using precise manual therapy and targeted exercises.

All of those guide me towards what to treat, and how to treat it.

Core values

Quality over quantity. Working on the quality of a movement, muscle contraction, posture, scar tissue mobility has the potential to alleviate the symptoms. I therefore aim to improve the quality of the execution of an exercise prior to increasing the quantity.

Collaboration. I value working in a collaborative way with my clients and other professionals so everyone brings some enlightenment to the situation and participates to the goals achievement.

Support. I see my role as a guide aiming to support the children’s development and adult’s better way of living.

Learn and share. Curious and always looking for better solutions, I enjoy reading scientific articles and taking new courses. Once I get new information, sharing my knowledge with my clients in a way it can empower them is my next step.

Biggest challenges

The healing path can sometimes include some relapse periods and it can be challenging to adjust when this happens. As a health professional, I always ask myself what can I do differently to better help my client.

For an answer, finding a different angle to analyze the situation and modifying physiotherapy treatments accordingly is one promising option. Involving other team members using complementary treatment tools and viewing the situation from another perspective has also been shown to be genuinely helpful in these situations.

Hobbies and interests

I grew up as a figure skater and a pianist. From that, I tend to keep physical activities and music in my life. Hiking, skiing, swimming in lakes and the ocean as well as singing in a choir fill me up with good energy.

On top of that, I love to spend precious moment with my family.

Educational background

I studied at Laval University, Quebec City and graduated in physiotherapy in 2000. I have since worked in a variety of health care environments, including private clinics for adults and children, research centre, palliative home care, rehabilitation centres, and home care services.
